We are a local nonprofit with the mission “to attract, retain and grow business by vigorously promoting, fostering, and coordinating economic development in the Greater Reading area”. Our organization is supported by many generous investors who believe in our mission and support the economic development of our region through their contributions. The contributions made by our investors allow the GREP team to continue to support the local business community in Greater Reading.
We understand the success of every company in our region (no matter how large or small) is critical to the economic development of Greater Reading and the health of our vibrant business community. Did You Know: The Reading Public Library is celebrating 250 years!
2013 marks the 250th year since the founding of the Reading Public Library, making it one of the oldest public libraries in the United States.
The library has kicked off this commemorative year with a great schedule of special events to be held throughout the year. The first of the series of celebratory events was held Saturday January 12th and provided children in attendance with the opportunity to take part in a time capsule not to be opened for another hundred years. Greater Reading Economic Partnership (GREP) won an award for the Careers in 2 Years workforce training campaign!
Oh and not just any award, Careers In 2 Years won the “Best of Show” award from the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA). NEDA’s 2012 Annual Literature & Promotions Competition was open to all members of the economic development industry. Entries were judged on design and layout, clarity of message, production quality, functionality and overall creativity and impact with four potential levels of recognition; Best in Class, Superior, Excellent and Merit. The “Best of Show” award is especially prestigious because it is only given to one entry annually across all of the possible categories.
